Rebecca “Spike” Ramhap
Rebecca also known a Spike attends Plainview Old Bethpage Middle School in the 7th grade and enjoys playing in the Jazz Club. Spike is an archer, swimmer, and also plays volleyball. In her free time, she reads avidly, watches movies such as the Back to the Future triology and Hunt for Red October (Ramius = the bomb) and is unraveling the old computer game, Myst. Given her choice, soup dumplings (from Joe’s Shanghai in Flushing) would be at the top of her foodie list. Spike’s favorite color is red. In the future, Spike set her sights on MIT, Stanford University, or Carnegie Mellon in order to major in environmental engineering. Wile she has been involved in the FIRST Lego Competitions since first grade, she also enjoys other STEM projects such as wearables, like Flora and NeoPixel rings. Spike likes to experiment with the Raspberry Pi, a computer the size of a credit card, but that hasn’t stopped her from building a desktop as well. Spike was the recipient of the second place award for her category in the Nassau County Science Competition. Her idol in Limor Fried, the founder of Adafruit Industries.
